UN Climate Change Conference Bonn SB62
June 16 - 26, 2025
Since its inaugural presence at COP28 in Dubai, E+C grew into a transformative platform, bringing together policymakers, artists, activists, and cultural leaders. In 2025, it built on this momentum with a decentralized presence at SB62 in Bonn, organizing a series of events throughout the two-week conference. These were part of the City of Bonn’s Summer of Change program, which aimed to bridge the cultural and climate policy spheres.
The Entertainment + Culture Pavilion team brought culture to the heart of the UNFCCC SB62 climate talks in Bonn, activating a dynamic mix of advocacy, events, and community engagement that amplified culture-based climate solutions ahead of COP30.
Over the course of the two weeks, the team closely followed key negotiations, especially on the Global Goal on Adaptation and ACE Dialogues, and advocated for cultural heritage to be recognised as a meaningful indicator in adaptation planning.
We hosted 8 different events, including the inaugural Bonn Culture x Climate Forum with panels, immersive workshops, performances and networking, and attended the Group of Friends for Culture-Based Climate Action side event. From the #BonnBabyBonn campaign to nature walks with Walking Forest, we centered cultural narratives, heritage, and creativity as essential drivers of climate justice and collective action.

CLIMATE X CULTURE FORUM
While SB62 brought negotiators together behind closed doors, we opened the doors wide at the LVR-Landes Museum — inviting 100+ artivists, leaders, institutions, and cities to gather for a day where culture took center stage in the climate conversation.

1st Symposium
A key anchor point of the year in the global climate policymaking calendar is the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn.
Every year in June, UNFCCC hosts the Intersessionals, the Subsidiary Bodies, or SBs, (as they are known), which sets the agenda ahead of the COP.
Bonn is where the implementation of the Paris Agreement and other Framework treaties is at stake, despite the reduced recognition and fanfare the SBs receive compared to COP.
For two years in a row, E+C has participated at SB60 and SB62 in the Intersessionals with the goal of increasing the presence of culture at the negotiations and delivering results ahead of the annual COP.
Building on the legacy of those who have convened delegates together at this important touch point, our long-term vision, built with regional and local partners, is to elevate Bonn as a hub for policy making and funding for culture-based climate action.
